Alison Wright (born in England) is an English actor. Her best-known role is as Martha Hanson in the FX the spy-themed period series The Americans. She received not only praise from critics but also nominations for an Primetime Emmy Award for this. The actress also appeared in her role on the Ryan Murphy limited series Feud: Bette & Joan and Hollywood. Wright was born in Sunderland on the 12th July 1976. She was raised in Sunderland by her adoptive family. She began dancing and acting at a young age. She studied at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and The Barrow Group in New York City. The job of waitressing was where she worked as she auditioned for role. Scuba diving was one of her hobbies as a major hobby of hers after suffering a heart event at sea which left her in the coma.
